The MECHANIC SHIRTS by JELADO blend classic design with vintage texture. They take inspiration from 1950s chambray work shirts made by the “OX-HIDE” brand. Unlike typical work shirts, this version removes the front placket and introduces an open-collar silhouette for a more relaxed yet refined look.  Over the past year, JELADO developed a twisted chambray fabric to replicate the texture and character of 1930s–1940s vintage Big Yank shirts. Their team analyzed original garments and recreated the thread count, yarn twist, punch density, and uneven textures. They used sulfide dye to allow the fabric to fade and age beautifully, adding to its vintage charm.

One color option features a white cypress base. JELADO wove black and white threads into the warp and used white on the weft. A power loom helped them achieve the authentic texture seen in garments from the 1930s–40s.

JELADO also used cotton yarn stitching to enhance the vintage detail. When washed or tumble-dried, the threads naturally tighten and create subtle puckering around the shoulders and arms—an iconic look from the era.
